Parents/Students
7-30-10: Did you know that Song and Dance is now the “practice” home of the Norwegian Cruise Lines professional entertainers. That’s right – our studio is being used for these entertainers to get ready to perform when they set sail. The kids find these performers amazing and can learn many things from them. We currently have ropes set up in the ballroom for webbing practice. Never heard of webbing? Come take a look during the day and watch them swing from above. Most of them are from NY so let’s show them some “southern hospitality.”
7-30-10: If you have a good comment about our studio, share it with someone else. If you have a problem with something at the studio, share it with us. We want to help and make things pleasant for everyone.
7-30-10: Calling all volunteers!!! Song and Dance always needs volunteers for the season. Are you available to help? We need things like: dads to help make props, people to take props to competitions, people to set up and tear down events in the ballroom, work the snack shack, someone that is not a competition parent to take care of the after school program on
Fridays when there is a competition weekend, work on fundraising events with Diane. We are asking for help because it takes a lot of work to make this studio run on a daily basis and it is especially difficult when we have special events. Your help is deeply appreciated and we thank you in advance for helping to support our studio and your children. Please email Diane at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com if you are interested.
7-29-10: Creative World School Performance Line up is: Rain, Hit Me up, Cold Water, Go Light Your World, Catch a Fire, The Rain, Orphans of God, Sideways, Bboys. Arrival around 11:15 and performance is at 11:30 a.m. Anyone who wishes to come support us is welcome. We should return to the studio by 12:30 p.m. Any questions, email scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com
7-29-10: Please note that there has been a change in the Teen Ballet Leotard color – from Turquoise to Brown. Sorry, Turquoise was really hard to find to stock in Snazzy.
7-29-10: National Dance Day party on July 31st at Song and Dance from 6 – 9 pm. Miss Niki would like you to know her class rules for this year. I thought I would share them with you here:
Ballet attire must be pink tights and pink ballet shoes with your appropriate color of leotard. If you have tan ballet shoes left over from last year, you may wear them with tan tights and the appropriate leotard for rehearsals. Hair must be in a bun or braid and pulled back out of your face and secured with a headband or bobby pins. Limit wearing jewelry to class to prevent injury. Boys must wear a tight tank top in white, black or the color of their level of ballet and black shorts worn on the waist and above the knee.
Please note that warm-ups (leg warmers, leggings, skin tight shorts) must be removed after you are warm. No t-shirts, sweatpants, baggy shorts, etc. In addition, please wear your leotard to previous classes as Niki will not permit time to change between classes this year as it interrupts her class time. No chewing gum PLEASE – you could choke!
