Competition Teams 10/11

8-31-10:  A few parents are interested in purchasing the warm up pants that match the jacket.  This is not mandatory but if you would like the pants also, the cost is $35.  Please let the Snazzy Dancewear staff know if you’d like to order pants because the order will have to be put in at the same time to avoid additional shipping charges. 

8-30-10:  Please note:  tomorrow  is the last day to order team jackets and if you have not picked up your silly bands for the fund raiser, you also need to do this by September 1st. 

8-24-10:  As many of you know, hip hop sensation, Jamie J, will be coming to our studio on September 18th for two workshops.   This event will be open to the public and I have begun promoting the event around the community.  The competition teams will benefit from a portion of the proceeds from this event.  All I need you to do is TELL PEOPLE about it.  I have flyers if you know a place you can post one and I can email information to people that you think might be interested.  I am contacting all dance studios within a 50 mile radius and it would be great if we got so many people that I had to add another workshop.  If you would like a flyer or details, please let me know at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com.  Together, we can make this a great event!

8-24-10:  The Silly Bands have arrived!  As discussed at our team meeting, the girls will be selling Silly Bands to help raise money for their competition expenses.  I have started everyone off with 10 packages of Silly Bands.  I will be sending an email to all of you that explains the fund raiser, which begins September 1st and ends September 30th.  Please be on the look out for the email in the next 2 days. 

8-17-10:  I have been kicking around the name, Synergy, as I’ve heard that the girls on teams do NOT like it.  I’ve asked most of them when I’ve seen them and they have told Lexi their choices.  At this point, I am going to forego the name Synergy and keep Competition Team on the back of the jacket.  I think the girls deserve to have a say in what their team name is so we will keep thinking and maybe add it next year.  Thanks for all the ideas!!!

8-17-10:  Great news for Hip Hop Team and Song and Dance Studio:  I was able to book Jamie J – famous hip hop choreographer – September 18th workshop and September 19th choreography for team.  More details will follow. 

8-17-10:  The final price on the jackets with embroidery will be $75 not including the $4 for the name on the front.  Absolute best I can get – barely got anyone to budge on this.  I’d like to get all the money for the jackets in by August 31st so that I can place the order with them.  It will be at least three weeks for the jackets to come in and then another 3 weeks for the embroidery company to finish the jackets.  So, for this time frame we are looking at mid-October delivery to team members.  Remember, all money needs to be paid to Snazzy Dancewear.  The office will not be able to take your money as the businesses are two separate entities. 

8-12-10: I’m still working on a better price for the jackets but the embroiderers all told me that the actual logo for Song and Dance is actually a TON of stitches and that is why the price is inflated.  I got two more quotes and they were astronomical so I decided to go back to the jacket vendor and see what they can do.  I am trying my best to get you a good deal but unfortunately, times have changed.  These places are not getting enough business and we are paying for it.  Don’t forget to let me know if you want a jacket for your child by Friday, August 13th.  No money is due now – simply a count on how many we need.

8-8-10:  Don’t forget that this Friday, Aug 13th is the deadline to tell me if you are going to be ordering the team jacket or not.  I have an idea about them as I am trying to think of ways to reduce your cost.  I won’t know if it will work for a couple of days so bear with me.  I’ll post new info as soon as I know it. 

8-8-10:  GREAT NEWS!  I spoke with Julie and if you are a team member that has NO props you owe NO prop fee.  Yeah!!!  I will take you off the list.  If you do owe a prop fee, I will be sending you an email soon to remind you that your fee is due immediately. 

8-6-10:  Thanks parents for meeting with me tonight.  Hopefully you received a lot of useful information.  To recap a few things:  I will be looking into the Petite Team practice date and getting back to all of you as soon as possible.  There are some scheduling conflicts with other classes and Miss Gini will be working those out.  If I get an updated schedule this weekend, I will upload it to this site.  By Friday, August 13th, you need to let me know if you want a team jacket or a red t-shirt.  I am going to TRY to work a better deal with the embroiderer but I cannot guarantee anything.  I know that the price will be a bit less than I stated if we just put Synergy on the back instead of Competition Team.  Your old green jackets did not have the words competition team on them so there is another reason for the extra embroidery money.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the things we spoke about.  I am here to work WITH you to make things fun but there are some things that I cannot change.  I hope that you will all be team players and work along with me so that we can have the greatest season ever. 

8-5-10:  Solo Announced:  Alexis Bacho – Bleeding Love (contemporary).  Duet announced:  Alexis Bacho and Ashlynn Cole – Crazy Town (clogging).  I know Courtlyn Birmingham and Mia Lorenzo have solos but I do not have any information.  Please forward your information to me asap.  I’d like to have for Friday’s meeting.

8-4-10:  Parents:  please note that the show will be at 4:30 on Fri, the ice cream social will be at 5:00 p.m. and the parent meeting will be at 5:30 p.m.

8-2-10:  Chris Conn would like everyone to know that she will be having a pool party for competition teams very soon.  Please check back often so you won’t miss out!

8-1-10:  Please thank the following moms for their dedication and support of our competition teams by contributing to the National Dance Day Party on Saturday, July 31st:  Teri Linderman, Kristi Benedict, Karen Birmingham, Kris Hutto, Linda Acklin.  Our Sound Man was Travis Acklin and great job to Lexi and all the girls on learning the National Dance Day dance.  I will be submitting the video to So You Think You Can Dance this week and will keep you updated on what I find out.  Photos will be posted here of this event real soon so check back for those.   We had a great time and I couldn’t have done it without my helpers.    If you did not participate in this event, you will need to participate in at least one other fundraising event for the teams between now and December 2010. 

8-1-10:  UPDATE:  the parent meeting for competition team moms will be at 5:30 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. so we can have Miss Susan there.  Also, team intensives this week begin at 9:00 a.m. promptly instead of 8:30 and end at 5:00 p.m. instead of 5:30.  So, intensives are from 9 – 5 the entire week and there will be a short show at 4:30 on Friday followed by an ice cream sundae party and then the team parent meeting at 5:30.  If, for some reason, you cannot attend the meeting, please call me at the studio or email me at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com .  Additionally, if you have not paid for intensives, please make sure to be there at least 15 mins early so that we can get everyone done before the intensives begin at 9:00 a.m. 

 

7-29-10:  There will be a parent meeting for competition moms at the end of the intensives next week on Friday.  Intensives end at 5:30 and we would like to meet at 5:00 p.m. to discuss team happenings.  Julie will not be there so if you have any questions for her, please email them to me at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com.  We will be announcing the team name, the teamwear for this year, fundraising and addressing some issues and rules with everyone.  Keep informed – see you there!

 

7-27-10:  This Saturday, July 31st is National Dance Day.  Song and Dance is having a National Dance Day Party from 6 – 9 p.m. for ages 8 and up.  I would really like to see as many of our competition team members there as possible as all the proceeds for the event are benefitting you.  Additionally, I realize that the mini team girls may be under age for this event but they are still invited and they may bring their friends.  We simply could not open this up to the public and their small children as we are not going to have enough volunteers their to “watch” small children.  The cost is $5 per dancer  and $3 per observer so why don’t you make it a family night and join us.  I’d love to hear if you are coming so email me at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com

7-26-10:  Hello ladies!  It’s getting close to competition team intensive week and you should all start stretching and getting ready NOW!  Your choreographers have major work planned for you next week but the fun of  it all is “you get to learn your competition dances!”  Can’t wait to watch all of you!  Come ready to work!

7-24-10:  All competition team members should have their moms call Song and Dance the week of 7/26/10 and confirm their child’s attendance for the mandatory team intensive the following week – August 2 – 6.  973-3156 and ask for Diane.  Thank you.

7-22-10:  Pep Comp Team Performance is cancelled for Friday, July 23 and Friday, July 30 at Creative World School due to not enough dancers able  to attend.  Sorry girls. 

7-21-10:  Mandatory Team Intensives are the week of August 2nd – 6th.  This is for ALL 2010-2011 team members including Petite Team and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.  The cost of the intensive is $150 per team member.  Remember:  the teams will be learning their competition dances during the intensives.  Please pack lunches and plenty of drinks for your child OR send money in an envelope marked with your child’s name and we will let them purchase lunch, drinks or snacks from the Snack Shack throughout the week.  If you have any questions regarding this intensive, please email Diane at scrapdiva@tampabay.rr.com.  We look forward to a successful year with our Song and Dance Competition Teams.  Let’s Rock their Flip Flops ladies!!!!
